UK Ship Register launch new website on Umbraco

On Wednesday 13th Sept. 2017, the UK Ship Register launched their first website independent of the umbrella. The brand new website is powered by Unified Solution’s open source CMS solution of choice, Umbraco. Based on a design created by our in-house graphics designer Emma, the new website showcases the UK Ship Register brand with eye-catching images to capture the visitor’s attention.  Clever use of icons provides clear segmentation and simple navigation, allowing the user to clearly identify their route into the site while sliding tiles bring the latest in news and social media updates.  

The solution was implemented by our web developer Jason, who, as requested by the client team, added several valuable functions to the lovely new design. These included a fee indicator so that potential customers can get a sense of costs without having to fill in complex forms that need to be processed manually before a figure can be provided and a question and answer function to alleviate demand on the customer services’ team and delays in responding to international users. The whole information architecture is a triumph of user-centric design, allowing users to quickly find what they need via language that is well known and understood amongst the user community.

Implemented start to finish in just three months, the team at UK Ship Register worked very closely with Unified Solutions to quickly review and approve progress through our InSite methodology and coordinated content editor training so that the site, which was largely populated with new content, could go live in time for the London International Shipping Week

Feedback from UK Ship Register stakeholders as part of an active consultation exercise has also been positive, here are just some of the comments received;

"Navigation was great, each section was easily identifiable and then broken down into easy to use sections.  The speed moving in between the pages was good and there was no lag time"
